What is Dental Assisting?

Dental Assistants are extremely important members of the dental healthcare team. They are like the doctor's "second and third set of hands"! They work directly with the dentist in all aspects of the patient's treatment and care. Some of the many job responsibilities of a Dental Assistant are:

  • Prepare the treatment room for the patient and the doctor
  • Process radiographs
  • Maintain infection control asepsis for the patient, doctor and the assistant
  • Preparation of dental materials for the doctor and patient
  • Help with a variety of laboratory procedures
  • And many behind the scenes needs that the patient and the doctor need
